1973 brought in fresh attitudes. Paul was enjoying success with Wings and began to loosen up a bit on denying full reunion questions from the press. Meanwhile George, Ringo and John continued to join in each other’s sessions when logistics permitted. They collectively agreed to parody their own butcher cover, and all four agreed on the concept and even the track selection. Meat City was packed with a couple of big solo singles, and reached Number Three in the States and Number Four in the UK. It went to Number One in Canada. Maybe this animal wasn’t dead yet. For some sessions in NYC both Paul and John utilized studio musicians Dave Spinozza and Hugh McCracken.
