The four individual members were shocked at the results of the Black Album. Apple Corps., Ltd. was operating in the black again and convinced the group to continue putting out product. With pending litigation, record obligations still proceeded, and Paul reluctantly sent in solo tracks along with the other three for a country-flavored album The Beatles Buy the Farm. This collection was cohesive with its country-flavored and "death of The Beatles" theme although basically a solo collection with John, George, and Ringo making some attempts to collaborate together.

John’s Well Well Well faded into Paul’s more syrupy “Well Well Well” intro of Long Haired Lady to give the illusion that the two were still working together, when in fact, the cover photo was edited from some of their exterior verbal battles as witnessed by the world press. Again the Beatles laid claim to its demise, this time closing the LP with George’s superior version of All Things Must Pass. John’s God was considered, but dropped since it lacked any sense of a country flavor.

This collection reached number one in Canada, number two briefly in both the U.S. and U.K. charts, and chartered fairly well worldwide.
